Planning and Building

Thanks to the 200+ delegates representing 38 Local Governments from across the state and to our insightful, engaging presenters - all of whom contributed to a very successful Planning Showcase for 2024.

The WALGA Planning and Building team would like to extend a thank you to our CEO Nick Sloan, for opening the day and sharing his insights and knowledge on the importance of planners making the most of opportunities on behalf of communities.

Thanks also to the Hon. John Carey BA MLA, Minister for Planning; Lands; Housing; Homelessness who provided his Ministerial lens on all things planning, covering an in-depth list of topics. Minister Carey highlighted how important the Planning industry is to our state, and he welcomed the way Local Governments are rethinking their culture, the future, and the best ways to do things. He stressed how important this was as WA reaches the 3 million population milestone and the huge impacts this will have on planning and the housing supply, stressing that all 3 tiers of Government need to step up to deal with these sweeping changes.

Lastly, a huge thank you to all the amazing speakers who took time out of their busy schedules to share their innovative planning projects with their peers. All topics and speakers were inspirational and provided lots of food for thought for our WA Planners.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year - save the date for the 2025 Planning Showcase, taking place in late September at PCEC.
