New WALGA President and Deputy President elected

City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin has been elected as the new President of the Western Australian Local Government Association.

State Council also elected Shire of Northam President Chris Antonio as WALGA Deputy President.

WALGA warmly welcomes both President Irwin and Deputy President Antonio. We look forward to working together, as the authoritative voice and trusted partner for Local Government in Western Australia.

WALGA’s 2026-27 Federal Budget Submission now available

WALGA has submitted its 2026–27 Federal Budget Submission to the Australian Government, advocating for critical investment in key areas of need for Local Governments and their communities.

The 2026-27 Federal Budget Submission outlines key challenges facing WA's 139 Local Governments in key policy areas including community infrastructure, safer and better-connected roads, coastal management, active transport networks and disaster resilience and recovery.

WALGA’s Submission calls on the State Government to build on the positive momentum of the 2025 State Election commitments through further targeted investment in priority initiatives to support Local Governments and their communities.
