Local Governments determine the vast majority of development applications in Western Australia. However, State Government decision makers are considering an increasing number of proposals through Development Assessment Panels (DAPs) and the Significant Development Pathway (SDP).
WALGA has historically opposed DAPs and the SDP as they erode the role of Local Government in providing a valuable community perspective on planning proposals.
To inform our advocacy, WALGA collates and reviews data on the DAPs and the SDP, producing reports on the operation of these pathways.
These summary reports have been made available:
- DAP Report (2011-2016)
- DAP Report (2011-2020)
- DAP Report (2011-2024)
- SDP Report (2020-2025)
- SDP (October 2025 Data)
In addition, the data collected across 2011-2026 can be explored through the below Dashboard, an interactive tool enabling users to sort and filter data on development applications determined via State decision makers.
