Shane studied at Edith Cowan University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts – Recreation and a Master of Business Administration, with additional qualifications in Project Management and the Australian Business Excellence Framework. Shane is a previous Director of Parks and Leisure Aust. (PLA) and a previous PLA Regional Councillor (WA). Shane’s current professional memberships include Sports West, LIWA Aquatics, Social Impact Measurement Network Australia (SIMNA) and IAKS (ANZ).
With over 30 years’ experience within Local Government in WA, the last 15 years of which in senior management positions, Shane brings a wealth of knowledge and depth of understanding of Local Government community-based service and infrastructure development, facility operations and stakeholder management.
Key competencies are in the areas of community infrastructure planning, stakeholder engagement & advocacy, demand and feasibility assessment, strategic and business planning and policy development
Over his Local Government career, Shane has worked closely with many Local Governments, State and Federal Government agencies, Executive and Council Members, and community organisations to deliver meaningful infrastructure and service outcomes.
Shane is passionate about evidence based strategic decision making and prides himself on his ability to provide a holistic approach to his project methodology and analysis.
Shane draws significant experience from having been “the Client” in a local government environment and have first-hand experience of guiding projects and ensuring they meet the needs of the local government’s internal and external stakeholders.
Shane seeks to harness the collective wisdom of the stakeholder group to understand the many factors which influence investment decisions, and to provide workable solutions that meet the needs of the target community.
