WALGA, in partnership with the City of Cockburn, hosted a Field Tour on Bushfire Preparedness in May 2021.   The tour provided practical, on-ground examples of practices that can be used to minimise bushfire risk.  Sites visited included the Jandakot Fire Station, natural areas within Cockburn, and the new WA Wildlife Centre of Excellence and Native Animal Hospital.   Speakers discussed a range of treatment strategies that can be used to manage vegetation fuel loads and protect both the community and environmental assets.  WA Wildlife discussed how to address native animal welfare during the bushfire response and recovery stage.
