WALGA and Local Government Professionals WA have finalised negotiations for the development of new Local Government CEO contract templates for the sector. The new templates have undergone external legal review and are compliant with the Local Government Act 1995 (WA) and the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996 (WA).
The Total Reward Package provided to a CEO must comply with the current Determination of the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal for Local Government CEOs and Elected Members, which is updated each year.

We strongly encourage Councils to obtain legal advice when utilising the CEO contract templates as a contract of employment is a legal document and any amendments to the contract should be legally drafted. These contract templates are not suitable for employees at a Local Government other than the CEO and they are not compliant with the industrial instruments (such as an award or industrial agreement) that an employee may be covered by.
