The most prestigious Local Government arts competition - Showcase in Pixels - is back in 2024 with new categories and a fresh new theme! Be ready to reveal what artistic talent is hidden right under our noses within our own local communities! A journey through the diverse perspectives of local art is almost here.

This year's theme: ‘Heroes Among Us’

Our core theme this year invites artists to cast a spotlight on those whose dedication and selflessness transcend the ordinary, contributing to the fabric of our communities.

Through our Local Government connections WALGA will invite a diverse array of artwork, encouraging community members of all ages to portray the theme of ‘Heroes Among Us’ in a myriad of forms.

This could range from realistic portraits capturing the steely determination of a first responder, to abstract interpretations that convey the essence of community service.  
The artwork may include mixed media, digital art, paintings, sculptures, or any form of visual art that resonates with the theme. 

Submissions

Submissions must be in high-quality, digital jpg format, suitable for large digital and high-quality print promotion.

Entries will open for this year’s contestants on Monday, 5 August and remain open until closing on Friday, 20 September.
