National Biosecurity Week 2025 is taking place from Monday 25 – Sunday 31 August.
Its a timely reminding us that biosecurity concerns everyone and Local, State and Australian Government, industry and the community must work together to protect our unique environment and diverse agricultural industries.
Local Governments are encouraged to participate this week, highlighting the work undertaken with animal and plant pest management such as weed control, corella and pest parrot management or combatting the Polyphagous shot-hole borer.
Community engagement and participation are key to WA’s biosecurity surveillance effort and Local Governments can assist by promoting the MyPestGuide App and website to their community, which allows reports of unusual pests and plants.
Resources include the Youth Biosecurity - National Biosecurity Training Hub, which includes great resources to engage children and young adults in biosecurity action.
