Major investment to develop new off-road vehicle areas
On Sunday 1 September, President Karen Chappel AM JP joined Hon Hannah Beazley, Minister for Local Government, at Pinjar Motorcycle area for the State Government announcement of:

  • $4.8 million for Local Governments to develop new and upgrade existing off-road vehicle areas
  • Funding to ensure dedicated ORV facilities meet growing community demand
  • Grant applications open until Friday 8 November, 2024.

WALGA welcomes this funding for development, upgrading and expanding designated off-road vehicle sites in WA. Local Governments play a key role in the upkeep and management of off-road vehicle areas, including monitoring and policing of registrations.

"Having funding to upgrade and expand the number of designated sites, and also support the operation of the new sites so people can undertake this popular activity safely, will be greatly welcomed by our Member Councils," said President Chappel.

WALGA will continue to work alongside and engage with the State government, to ensure there are adequate ongoing resourcing to support safe ORV use and enforcement, improve registrations, community education and the regulation of off-road vehicles outside of the designated areas.
