Free VacSwim Swimming Program
This week the State Government announced that Vacswim summer swimming program will be free to all WA Children over the coming summer school holidays.
  • Investing $5.5 million towards school swimming and water safety
  • VacSwim will be free over December and January school holidays
  • Initiative to encourage more children to learn vital water safety skills and help relieve cost-of-living pressures for WA families
  • Free summer VacSwim enrolments open now until Wednesday, 16 October
Free in-term classes for smaller, low Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) non-government schools to encourage students from diverse cultural backgrounds to learn how to swim.

VacSwim has been delivered in Western Australia for more than 100 years, with lessons held at pools and beaches across the State, and has contributed to safety in and near the water for generations of WA children and young people.

This initiative would not be possible without the many Local Government aquatic centres and pools that allows programs such as VacSwim to be undertaken by the community.

Once enrolments close on 16 October the number of children enrolled in each program at venues will be confirmed. The Department will work closely with Local Governments and facilities to ensure that the process of free entry for VacSwim participants is as efficient as possible.
