After advocating for funding and support for regional waste management through WALGA’s 2025 State Election Priorities, the State Government'S commitment of $766,000 funding for a new E-waste Regional transportation Support Scheme (ERTSS) was greatly welcomed.
Administered by The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation the new E-waste Regional Transportation Support Scheme will support regional and remote Local Governments, by providing a rebate towards the cost of e-waste transportation for recycling in the transition period following implementation of the ban.
Eligible local governments can apply to receive up to 50% of costs incurred for the transportation of eligible e-waste to an appropriately licenced e-waste recycler or aggregation hub.

Applications for an ERTSS rebate grant can be submitted via SmartyGrants between Monday, 13 January and Sunday, 1 June 2025.
