Now in its eighth year, WALGA’s Aboriginal Engagement Forum brought together the Local Government delegates, partners, stakeholders and organisations, commited to change and striving to achieve better practice, policy and collaboration with Aboriginal people and the Sector.
In line with this year’s theme ‘Doyntj-Doyntj Maladjiny - Growing Together’, speakers showcased the collaborative power of meaningful partnerships and transforming relationships with Aboriginal people, to deliver positive impacts for all.

- an incredible standing-ovation performance from Gina Williams AM and Guy Ghouse
- a commitment from the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries to work with WALGA to encourage more Aboriginal Elected Members
- the inaugural Yarning Space, a dedicated outdoor hub on Kaarta Gar-up ground, providing a place to share, reflect and connect.
- showcasing of incredible case studies from the Shire of Derby West Kimberley, City of Swan, Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley, the City of Canning and their collaborators highlighting the transformative work delivered when working with Aboriginal people and knowledge holders.
