WALGA’s biennial Emergency Management (EM) Survey

The Survey will open on Wednesday 1 November for one month, closing on the new date of Friday 8 December 2023.

Why should my Local Government complete the survey?

Your input is crucial to guide WALGA’s advocacy on key emergency management issues, such as resources for emergency management, the Local Government Grants Scheme (LGGS) and the Consolidated Emergency Services legislation currently under development by the State Government.

Survey Details

  • Local Government CEOs will be emailed a unique link to the Survey which can be passed on to relevant staff.

  • The Survey will take 45-60 minutes to complete but does not need to be undertaken all at once – progress can be saved by pressing the save button

  • Multiple people can complete the Survey, but the software will only allow one person in at a time

  • Results will be aggregated and shared as appropriate with Local Governments, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), and other relevant stakeholders. Your Local Government’s individual responses will remain confidential.

How previous survey supported Local Government?

Previous Surveys provided the basis for a review of WALGA’s Emergency Management Advocacy Positions and has enabled us to effectively represent the WA Local Government Sectors’ interests, through:

  • The State Emergency Management Committee
  • State Bushfire Advisory Committee
  • Inter-Agency Bushfire Operations Committee and
  • Policy submissions, including the WALGA State Budget Submission

Your input also led to WALGA

  • Establishing the WALGA Emergency Management Network

  • Developing WALGA’s Emergency Management for Leaders Training
