WALGA Training proudly supports the sector by offering the prestigious Jacqui Dodd Scholarship to four, two Metropolitan and two Regional, deserving recipients!
Since 2021, this scholarship, named in honor of the late Jacqui Dodd, former long-serving WALGA Training Services Manager, has been awarded to Metropolitan and Regional Elected Members.
The LGA50220 Diploma of Local Government - Elected Member program is the highest qualification an Elected Member can achieve through WALGA Training. The scholarship covers 50% of training and assessment fees, up to $5,085,00, and provides additional travel expense compensation for regional applicants upon program completion.
To qualify, applicants must be current Elected Members, have completed all Council Member Essentials training, and must not have previously received the scholarship.
Nominations open on Tuesday, 1 July 2025 and will close on Friday, 15 August 2025, 12 noon.
- Available Scholarships: 2 x Metro Scholarships and 2 x Regional Scholarships
Diploma of Local Government - Elected Member Information
- Commencement: Monday, 2 September 2024
- Duration: 12-18 months (The scholarship must be completed within 18 months)
- Attendance: 8 WALGA workshops in West Leederville (attendance in person required for a total of 9 days). Each workshop is followed up by a 1-hour Zoom mentoring session to help participants with assessment tasks.
- Time commitment: In addition to attending the training, participants need to allow 20-30 hours per unit for research, reading and assessment preparation time.
