Jacqui Dodd Scholarship

WALGA Training is proud to support the sector by offering the prestigious Jacqui Dodd Scholarship to four successful recipients.

Since 2021, the Scholarship, named in honour of former long-serving WALGA Training Services Manager the late Jacqui Dodd, has been awarded to up to two (2) Metropolitan recipients and two (2) Regional recipients. 

The LGA50220 Diploma of Local Government - Elected Member program is the highest level of qualification an Elected Member can obtain through WALGA Training. The Scholarship covers 50% of training and assessment fees up to a value of $5,085 and offers additional travel expense compensation for regional applicants upon completion of the program. 


To qualify, applicants must be a current Elected Member, have completed all Council Member Essentials training and have never previously received the scholarship.

Scholarship Information 


  • Commencement: Monday, 2 September 2024 
  • Duration: 12-18 months (The scholarship must be completed within 18 months)
  • Attendance: 7 WALGA workshops in West Leederville (attendance in person required for a total of 8 days) 
  • Time commitment: In addition to attending the training, participants need to allow for research, reading and assessment preparation time of 20-30 hours per unit.
  • Available Scholarships: 2 x Metro Scholarships and 2 x Regional Scholarships 


Nominations open on Monday, 27 May 2024 and will close on Thursday, 27 June 2024, 12 noon.
