2022 WALGA Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation Forum

Description

SAVE THE DATE - 5 OCTOBER

WALGA invites you to attend our Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation Forum, an annual highlight for the sector for six years running.  Please join us for a day of learning and celebration of the positive work occurring between Local Governments and their Aboriginal communities.

This year we will reflect on our journey so far and why, as Local Governments, we need to continue to provide leadership to make the changes we need to see.

Key topics that will be addressed include:
  •   Aboriginal cultural heritage management
  •   Reconciliation Action Planning in practice
  •   Teaching truth for healing and reconciliation
  •   Aboriginal traditional land management practices
  •   Aboriginal place names and cultural awareness
  •   Closing the Gap and achieving equality

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in panel discussions and workshop sessions with Aboriginal elders and leaders.

See the video of our 2021 forum ‘Doyntj Doyntj – Come Together’, which demonstrates the power of Local Government to advance reconciliation in our state.

Registrations will open in July, and the program will be available after this time.

For more information, please contact WALGA's Event Manager, Ulrike Prill or call (08) 9213 2043.
