WALGA is excited to bring the seventh regional Waste and Environment Summit to life in the breathtaking surrounds of Esperance.

Join us in the Goldfields region from Wednesday 4 to Thursday 5 June for presentations, panels, tours and workshops where we can share knowledge, experiences and solutions between State and Local Governments, business and community.

Delegates will hear from renowned guest speakers and experts including:

Karen Chappel was elected President of WALGA in March 2022 and has served as a Councillor at the Shire of Morawa since 2005 and Shire President since 2009. A WALGA Life Member and Local Government Diploma graduate, Cr Chappel is also Deputy President of the Australian Local Government Association.

Lee Broomhall is the CEO of Workpower and Deputy Chair of the Waste Authority. The Waste Authority works with Local Governments and stakeholders to promote understanding of resource recovery and members are appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of the Minister for Environment.

Chief Executive Officer, Goldfields Nullarbor Rangelands Biosecurity Association (GNRBA)
With previous roles across the Nullarbor, Goldfields and Pilbara, Amanda has had consistent involvement with the pastoral industry since joining GNRBA in 2021. GNRBA covers 109 pastoral properties and plays a key regional role in assisting land managers to control high impact declared pests.
Dr Dorian Moro

Manager, Wiluna Martu Rangers at Tarlka Matuwa Piarku Aboriginal Corporation (TMPAC)
Dr Moro commenced at TMPAC in 2020, supporting indigenous Rangers and Coordinators to connect elders and youth and share knowledge and expertise on Country. Formerly a conservation zoologist, he has published over 100 scientific articles, and worked across government, industry and academic sectors.
