WALGA is hosting a Roadside Native Vegetation Management Field day in the City of Kwinana.

The one-day workshop provides an opportunity to:

  • Gain a greater understanding of the Native Vegetation Clearing Regulations
  • Review case studies about types of information required to demonstrate avoidance, impact minimisation, mitigation and offsets
  • Learn about the management of threatened flora, fauna and Environmental Sensitive Areas on roadsides
  • Manage risk and liability in the context of road design and upgrades
  • Network with other Local Governments in the region.

The morning session features presentations from WALGA, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), LGIS and Local Government.

The afternoon session features site visits to road construction or upgrade projects to view how vegetation has been considered in the design and planning process. It will also include discussion of roadside vegetation maintenance practices.

The training is targeted at Roads and Works Managers, Project Managers, Environment Officers and on ground staff involved in the clearing or management of roadside vegetation.

The program for the field day will be available shortly.

Morning tea and lunch are provided. Please dress appropriately for site visits, including long pants, enclosed shoes and wear a hi-vis vest.
