WA Work Health and Safety Legislation Commences

The Minister for Industrial Relations, the Hon Bill Johnston MLA has announced the new Work Health and Safety legislation will come into effect on Thursday, 31 March. Guidance on the new laws is available on the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety website, while resources for Local Governments with responsibility for managing volunteer Bushfire Brigades are available on the WALGA website.

WALGA Employee Relations is hosting a joint webinar with the Local Government Associations of New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland on Local Government management of COVID-19 in the workplace in other States. The Associations will share insights and explore some of the approaches and practices adopted by Local Governments in other Australian jurisdictions to manage COVID-19 in the workplace.

This webinar is suitable for employees in Local Government who work in Human Resources and management roles.
