The Ombudsman WA sent out correspondence to Local Government Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) on 15 November 2022 inviting them to register for a webinar they are hosting on the Reportable Conduct Scheme which is scheduled for Wednesday 23 November 2022 at 10:00am.

Please click here to register for the Ombudsman’s webinar. The webinar will be recorded.

The Reportable Conduct Scheme will require CEOs of Local Governments that exercise care, supervision or authority over children to:

  • Notify allegations of, or convictions for, child abuse by their employees, contractors and volunteers to the Ombudsman, and
  • Investigate these allegations.

The office of the Ombudsman will monitor, oversee and review these investigations.

The Scheme will commence on a day that is to be proclaimed, which is anticipated to be 1 January 2023.

The Ombudsman has also published a number of useful resources and information about the Scheme which can be viewed here.

Please contact the Ombudsman on (08) 9220 7471 or reportableconduct@ombudsman.wa.gov.au if you have any questions about the Scheme.

Our previous alerts about the scheme include Alert 8 / 2022 and Alert 20 / 2022

If you have any questions about this alert, please email WALGA Employee Relations or call 1300 366 956.
