Regional Local Governments are encouraged to apply for the State Government’s Public Regional Galleries Improvement Fund which is currently open to support improvements to the quality of public art gallery infrastructure in regional Western Australia.
The program aims to improve access to high-quality arts and cultural experiences for regional audiences and increase the capacity of public galleries to receive touring exhibitions.
The Fund provides minor or major support improvements and upgrades to public arts and cultural galleries in regional Western Australia.
- Major grants $25,001 - $100,000
To be eligible, applications must align with the primary objective and the supporting objectives:
Primary objective
To support improvements to the quality of public art gallery infrastructure in regional WA.
Supporting objectives
- Contribute to the long-term sustainability of public art galleries in regional WA,
- Engage new audiences and contribute to the liveability and vibrancy of regional communities, and
- Improve the capacity of public art galleries in regional WA to receive touring or loaned art works requiring controlled environmental and security conditions, such as the State Art Collection
Whilst this grant opportunity is commendable, there is a continuing significant cost to Local Governments in maintaining their Community Arts and Culture Facilities and ongoing State Government funding is needed.
WALGA’s State Budget Submission calls for $25 million per year to establish a Community Arts and Culture Facilities Fund (CACFF), acknowledging the growing community demand for arts and culture infrastructure across WA and potential local and State level economic activity from this investment.
Applications close on Thursday, 30 May with draft review closing at 4pm on Thursday, 26 May.
