PRIS Legislation in Parliament

The State Government has introduced the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Bill 2024 (PRIS) to Parliament on Thursday, 16 May 2024, with the purpose of providing a framework to protect the privacy of personal information handled by public entities.

Once legislated, the PRIS Act will apply to Local Governments, Regional Local Governments, and their contracted service providers.

Many Local Governments have nominated PRIS Champions and have received guidance to prepare for implementing the PRIS requirements. If your Local Government has not yet nominated a PRIS Champion or you require further guidance on PRIS requirements, please contact:

Office of Digital Government, Department of the Premier and Cabinet – 08 6552 5000 or privacy@dpc.wa.gov.au
