WALGA’s Certificate III in Local Government (LGA30120) is the ideal pathway for people new to Local Government or Officers who wish to advance their career prospects.
For student Sonya Savy from the Town of Port Hedland, the Certificate’s finance stream provided her with the training she needed to secure a role within the organisation’s finance team.

WALGA Training offers two options of elective units within the Certificate III for students to undertake:

Option A - Business Administration and Document Processing

Option B - Financial Transactions and Accounting Processes
This allows students like Sonya to tailor the training to their specific needs and goals.
In addition to this, all learning resources have been specifically developed and contextualised for Local Governments in Western Australia.

Through the Certificate III, Officers will develop the skills and knowledge to perform a variety of administration duties, utilise effective communication techniques and gain a deeper understanding of the legislative requirements necessary to better serve their organisation and the wider community.
This program is available as a Traineeship for eligible employees or on a fee-for-service basis for those who have been working in Local Government for longer than three months full-time.
The WALGA Training team are committed to supporting and caring for trainees by engaging with their supervisors throughout the Certificate III in Local Government program.
Wednesday or Thursday training days are available, with the next intake commencing on Wednesday, 17 or Thursday, 18 July 2024.
