Local Governments shone at this year’s Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) WA Awards for Excellence, hosted on Saturday, 14 September 2024.

This prestigious awards program is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the urban development industry in terms of achievement in community creation, innovation and sustainability.

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale was recognised on the night as the inaugural recipient of the Local Government Authority of the Year award, of which WALGA formed part of the esteemed judging panel.

The award highlights the Shire’s exceptional work in shaping sustainable, community-centred urban environments to foster a thriving, liveable and connected community.

Shire President Rob Coales expressed pride in receiving the inaugural award.

“This recognition of the Local Government Authority of the Year Award is a tremendous honour for our Shire,” President Coales said.
