Further State award update – APPL 80 of 2023 (Today’s Conference Vacated) 

WALGA ER provided an update on State award matters via our ER Alert on 17 April 2024. In that Alert we communicated a WAIRC conciliation conference was scheduled for this afternoon at 2.15pm to try to reach an agreement about Local Government’s outside workforce’s wages rates in APPL 80 of 2023. This claim is the joint union claim made by the Western Australian Municipal, Administrative, Clerical and Services Union of WA (WASU) and the Local Government, Racing and Cemeteries Employees Union (WA) (LGRCEU) (together, Local Government Unions) to increase the rates in clause 16 of Municipal Employees (Western Australia) Award 2021 (ME Award).

Please note these rates will be the benchmark for minimum rates for all WA Local Governments outside workers whether covered by the ME Award or not.  

The conference has been vacated as representatives are unwell. The next step will be for the WAIRC to seek the parties’ availability for the conference to be re-listed.
