On Tuesday, 17 June WALGA hosted the inaugural Local Government Emergency Management Forum at the City of Stirling.
With opening addresses from WALGA President Karen Chappel AM JP and Hon Paul Papalia as Minister for Emergency Services, the day provided an opportunity to strengthen capabilities, gain insights, and share strategies for emergency management.

Developed by WALGA’s Emergency Management team, with input from Local Governments, the Forum focused on addressing the specific needs of WA Local Governments, with keynote presentations from:
- James Ashley - WA Managaer, Hazard Preparednss and Response, Bureau of Meteorology
- Allan Briggs - Founder, Owner and CEO, Crisis Shield,
- Dr Jill Charker - Deputy Coordinator-General, Disaster Resilience and Recovery at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
