WALGA is an independent, member-based, not-for-profit organisation representing and supporting the WA Local Government sector.

Our operational structure is comprised of a number of portfolios that house smaller teams, all working together to deliver our strategic initiatives. 

At the heart of our organisation is our people. Most of our employees work at head office, based in West Leederville and we also have some regional employees. 

We pride ourselves on offering a safe and inclusive culture with fantastic workplace benefits and entitlements. What we are most proud of is getting the chance to work on niche and interesting projects, with some incredibly talented people.

  • Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator


Co-hosted by WALGA's Emergency Management team and DFES's Bushfire Mitigation Branch, a rare opportunity to make a tangible impact on the safety and resilience of our communities.

Play a crucial role in safeguarding communities by identifying and mitigating bushfire risks. Together, we are committed to making a real difference in Local Government in Western Australia, by developing and implementing effective bushfire treatment programs.

Full-Time, Fixed Term Contract through to 30 June 2028

Selection Process

WALGA makes every effort to ensure that the right individual is chosen for the advertised vacancy. As such we employ a range of methods to assist with the selection process. Decisions are based on the outcomes of these methods along with the submitted application. Reference checks may be conducted at any time during the process.

WALGA recognises the importance of attracting, retaining, and supporting employees that enhance the quality and reputation of WALGA and the WA Local Government sector and who are aligned to the strategic vision and values.

WALGA is committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection practices are transparent, consistent and merit-based.

Candidates that are shortlisted will be invited to a phone interview and/or a face to face interview.

Candidates that are not successful in being selected for an interview will be notified via email.

Any candidates who require a reasonable adjustment to assist them through the application and recruitment process should get in touch with the contact listed on the advertisement.

Preceding the interview, all candidates will be provided with the interview questions and 30 minutes of preparation time.

Each interview will be conducted by an interview panel and each candidate will be assessed in the same manner. The aim is to obtain examples of your previous experiences, your approach to those examples, and the outcome as a result of your actions. 
Some interviews will require a presentation or assessment component correlating to the position and necessary experience required. If this is the case you will be informed when you are invited to attend. 

All candidates will be notified of the oucome of the interview via phone. If after two attempts we can not get in touch we will notify via email.

Candidates who have successfully progressed through to the reference check stage will be notified, and asked to confirm their referees, prior to any contact being made.
