2022 Scholarship Nominations open on 25 July 2022

The LGA50220 Diploma of Local Government - Elected Member program is the highest level of qualification that an Elected Member can obtain through WALGA Training. This specialised training program enables participants to increase their skills and knowledge in order to confidently provide leadership to their community and to efficiently and effectively fulfill their role and responsibility, in particularly in relation to good decision making in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995 and relevant regulations.

The Diploma of Local Government - Elected Member is nationally recognised within the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) and consists of 10 Units of Competency. After completing the Council Member essentials training, participants will attend 7 intensive and specialised workshops at our WALGA premises in West Leederville. Each workshop is followed up by a 1 hour mentoring session via ZOOM to prepare participants for all assessment tasks. 
 
Duration:   12-18 months
 The scholarship must be completed within 18 months
Attendance:   7 WALGA Workshops in West Leederville (attendance in person required for a total of 8 days)
 
Time Commitment:
 
 In addition to attending the training, participants need to allow for research, reading and assessment prepartation time of up to 20 hours for each Units of Competency
