Progress of the proposed transition of Local Governments to the State IR system

There have been no developments about the proposed transition of Local Governments to the State IR system since the July SIRT Bulletin.

WALGA has a meeting scheduled with the advisor to the Hon. Bill Johnston MLA, Minister for Industrial Relations and representatives from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety in August 2022 to discuss funding for the sector to support the transition.

Advocacy

In response to advocacy letters to the State Minister for Industrial Relations we understand a number of Local Governments have met with the Minister to discuss support and funding needs should Local Governments be mandated to operate in the State IR system.

Please continue to share information with us about any advocacy outcomes from your meetings and your Local Government’s funding and resource requirements as this will assist us with our ongoing advocacy with the Minister for Industrial Relations.
