Position description library launch for WA subscribers

We are pleased to announce the launch of stage 1 of a Position Description (PD) Library for WALGA Employee Relations subscribers in WA. The purpose of the PD Library is to provide a library of documents that Local Governments can use to research, compare, and write PDs.

During stage 1 (June to August 2022) WALGA Employee Relations subscribers are invited to upload PDs on the WALGA Salary and Workforce Portal. Log-in to the portal here and navigate to Resources and Position Descriptions. Read how the PD Library is going to work, consent to the terms of use, view a list of 60 priority positions and upload a minimum number of relevant PDs to join the library.

Stage 2 will be launched when there are a viable number of PDs in the library. You will then be able to search the PD Library, download PDs and make requests from other library users.

Local Governments already informally share PDs and other People and Culture information. The PD Library will provide a platform to encourage information sharing across the sector.

If you have any questions, please contact WALGA Employee Relations, or log a customer ticket on the WALGA Salary and Workforce Portal (on the support menu).

NT Local Governments

The PD Library is a new project launched by WALGA and Salary One for WA Local Governments. When the PD Library successfully reaches Stage 2, we hope to expand the library to NT Local Governments that participate in the Salary and Workforce Survey.

Reportable conduct scheme in WA

Last year WALGA prepared a submission for the Ombudsman Western Australia (WA Ombudsman) regarding the proposed reportable conduct scheme for WA and the Parliamentary Commissioner Amendment (Reportable Conduct) Bill 2020.

The Parliamentary Commissioner Amendment (Reportable Conduct) Bill 2021 (PCA Bill) was re-introduced into State Parliament this year and is currently being considered by the Legislative Council.

The PCA Bill contains provisions to establish a Reportable Conduct Scheme for Western Australia that will require relevant organisations (including Local Governments) to investigate and report employee misconduct involving children. More information about the scheme can be viewed here.

Once the Bill is passed by Parliament and has been proclaimed, the WA Ombudsman will work with WALGA to distribute information and materials to Local Governments regarding their obligations under the new legislation. We will continue to update the sector as the legislation progresses.

If you have any questions about this alert, please email WALGA Employee Relations or call 1300 366 956.
