WALGA advocates on behalf of the Local Government sector to prioritise initiatives and projects, and secure ongoing funding through budget allocations.
With an on the ground presence across the state, WALGA is in a position to articulate economic, social and environmental challenges at a community level and prioritise areas for funding.
In this year’s submission to State Government, WALGA focused in delivering significant benefits to communities through:

- Taking action on climate change
- Supporting the wellbeing of all Western Australians
- Delivering a legislative environment that supports a stronger economy and sharing prosperity

2022-23 Analysis
The 2022-23 State Budget confirmed that Western Australia’s financial position remains sound, despite the ongoing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, and emerging issues around supply and labour constraints.
As the peak body for Local Governments, WALGA particularly welcomes State Government investment in health, mental health, telecommunications, remote communities, road infrastructure and climate action.
