2025 Natural Resource Management and Coastal Conferences

Description

Seeking Expressions of Interest to Host

WALGA, the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, are seeking to appoint hosts for the next WA Natural Resource Management (NRM) and WA Coastal conferences.

Combined WA NRM and Coastal conferences have been held in 2017, 2019 and 2022, building upon previously separate and well-established conferences.

In 2025, to embrace national opportunities, the WA NRM and Coastal conferences will be held separately, and the WA Coastal Conference will be combined with the National Coast to Coast Conference.

These events have potential to bring many positive benefits to the host and local community, providing a unique opportunity to showcase a local area, creating a great sense of partnership and connection within the local and broader community, and providing a significant boost to the local economy.

Expressions of interest are sought from interested Local Governments, State Government agencies, regional bodies and other suitable organisations, including partnerships or consortia.

Expressions of Interest are invited for:
  • Joint National Coast to Coast Conference and WA Coastal Conference, or
  • WA Natural Resource Management Conference.
Nominations close Thursday, 28 March 2024.

Joint National Coast to Coast Conference and WA Coastal Conference

A Joint National Coast to Coast and WA Coastal Conference is an opportunity to showcase a local area to both a State and National Audience and to focus on the challenges and opportunities in planning and managing Australia’s unique and varied coastline.

This joint conference will bring together delegates from a diverse range of fields, including: all aspects of coastal, estuarine and marine management, science and research, and education, planning, policy and law; and includes representatives from government, the private sector, community groups and the interested public.

Guidelines and further information on the Joint National Coast to Coast Conference and WA Coastal Conference EOI can be found HERE.

WA Natural Resource Management Conference

The Conference is an important opportunity to showcase the challenges and opportunities in planning and managing our natural resources across land, water and marine ecosystems.

The Conference will focus on encouraging partnerships and overlap with linked or related activities.  A focus on landscape-scale, collaborative initiatives, the potential of the NRM sector to influence policy and attract alternative funds and the expansion and maintenance of social capital within the NRM sector will be highly regarded.
