WA Local Government Association State Councillor and City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams was awarded an Order of Australia Medal – one of Australia’s highest Honours – as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours List today

Recognised for her service to Local Government and the community over the course of 22 years, Mayor Adams was first elected as a Town of Kwinana Councillor in 1997 before becoming the Council’s first female Mayor in 2006.

WALGA President Cr Lynne Craigie congratulated Mayor Adams for receiving the prestigious commendation.

“Mayor Adams is a champion for the Local Government sector and she richly deserves the honour,” Cr Craigie said.

“Her passion and commitment to the sector and the local community are evident and this national honour recognises the significant contribution she has made over more than two decades of service.”

A long serving WALGA State Councillor for 13 years, Mayor Adams received the WALGA Long and Loyal Service Award in 2011.
