A number of WA Local Government representatives have been awarded medals in the recent Australia Day Honours Awards, recognising their significant work for the sector.

The Order of Australia Medal (OAM) recipients:
  • Patricia Hart  – Former Councillor and Deputy Mayor, City of Armadale
  • Peter Nosow – Former Councillor and Deputy Mayor, City of Wanneroo
  • Lynette Serventy – Former Councillor and Deputy President, Shire of Augusta-Margaret River

The Member of the Order of Australia (AM) recipient:
  • Charles Johnson – Former Chief Executive Officer, City of Wanneroo

WA Local Government Association Acting President, Cr Karen Chappel congratulated all the recipients from the sector, saying it demonstrated their commitment to serving the community.

“The three recipients of the Medal of the Order of Australia – Patricia Hart, Peter Nosow and Lynette Serventy - represented their communities as Elected Members and have been recognised for their work in services to community, horticulture, and conservation and the environment,” Cr Chappel said.
 
“Charles Johnson has been recognised with a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to town planning and the community, as Executive Director, Planning and then CEO at the City of Wanneroo.

“The Association is very proud of the recipients who have received these prestigious commendations, all of them richly deserved.”
