In response to the recent dry season and climate change impact on water resources the State Government has announced an extra $1.5 million to expand the Community Water Supplies Partnership (CWSP) program to regional communities in the South West and the Great Southern.
This map shows which Local Governments can apply for funding through the program, those shaded in green on the map are also covered by the Water Deficiency Declaration process.
Up to $100,000 is available to Local Governments and community groups for water infrastructure projects that establish or upgrade strategic emergency water supplies for firefighting and livestock, reduce reliance on scheme water and/or increase public amenity through the irrigation of open spaces, such as ovals, gardens and parks. Eligible water infrastructure works that can be considered under this scheme include:
- water tanks
- pumps, power sources, pipes and associated distribution systems
- dam and catchment construction and or maintenance
- standpipe and swipe cards infrastructure
- drilling of new bores, and
- support for water carting equipment

The State Government has also established the Drought Response WA website as a one-stop online destination for information and support available to primary producers being impacted by drought.
