Spotlight: Mitigation Activity Fund

WALGA and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services will be hosting an online information session to provide an overview of the Mitigation Activity Fund to support Local Government in preparing their next rounds of applications.

The next round of Grant funding opens Wednesday, 10 August and closes Wednesday, 21 September.

The Western Australian government established the Mitigation Activity Fund to provide funding for on-ground bushfire treatment activities for extreme, very high or high bushfire risks. All Local Governments who have an Office of Bushfire Risk Management endorsed Bushfire Risk Management Plan are eligible to apply.

Since the inception of the Mitigation Activity Fund Grants, DFES has allocated over $38.5 million of mitigation funding to 55 Local Governments to conduct over 5,000 mitigation treatments.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples hold a special place in our communities and connect the broader population with a wealth of history, tradition and culture which enriches our society.  Our work regularly takes us across the State and as such WALGA would like to acknowledge the many traditional owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
