2024 Local Government extraordinary election information

WALGA updates

The WA Electoral Commission (WAEC) will be conducting 15 extraordinary elections in 2024 for the following Local Governments:
 

Local Government Last day to enrol Election day
Shire of Halls Creek, Town of Port Hedland, Shire of Three Springs, Shire of Yalgoo 11 January 8 March
Shire of Boddington 12 January 9 March
Shire of Brookton 17 January 14 March
Shire of Ashburton (Tom Price Ward), City of Bayswater (North Ward), Shire of East Pilbara (East Ward), Shire of Merredin, Town of Mosman Park, Shire of Sandstone 18 January 15 March
Shire of Broome, Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale (North Ward) 29 January 23 March
Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley 15 February 12 April

 
Elections will take place in March and April and are being held either because a sitting Council Member is departing, or due to an insufficient number of candidates contesting the ordinary Local Government elections in October 2023.

To vote, eligible community members must be on the electoral roll by the close of rolls deadline.

By participating in the extraordinary elections, community members can have their say on the issues that affect their local community.
