Our staff have extensive knowledge of contemporary human resources and industrial relations practices, relevant legislation and the Local Government sector, that qualifies them to act as representatives of individual Local Governments and the sector generally.

Employee Relations Advice
Subscribers can access telephone and email advice on a variety of employee relations and human resources matters including for example enterprise bargaining, award interpretation, disciplinary action, fitness for work and performance improvement. Assistance is also provided on the review of documentation (letters, reports, etc.) to support HR, managers and supervisors in the effective management of their employees.
ER Alerts and HR Forums
WALGA Employee Relations prepares ER Alerts on a wide range of workplace relations issues relevant to Local Governments. ER Alerts are issued by email on important and topical issues varying from legislative and award changes to current case updates. WALGA hosts a free metro and regional HR Forum each year for subscribers to listen to presentations on topical issues in the Local Government sector and network with colleagues.
Template Resources
WALGA Employee Relations offers subscribers a large number of template policies, procedures, letters and checklists, ER guides on key issues such as the disciplinary process and performance improvement, COVID-19 FAQs and specific resources to assist Local Governments with the potential transition from the Federal to the State industrial relations system.
Industrial Advocacy and Representation
WALGA Employee Relations provides a professional negotiation and advocacy service in the Fair Work Commission, WA Industrial Relations Commission and the Equal Opportunity Commission. The service includes preparation, presentation and advocacy representation at conciliation conferences.
Enterprise Agreement Negotiations
WALGA Employee Relations offers subscribers assistance with the negotiation of enterprise agreements and the development of bargaining strategy on a fee for service basis. This service is particularly helpful when formal negotiations with employee representatives are involved.
Salary and Workforce Survey
All Local Governments are eligible to participate in the WALGA Salary and Workforce survey and access the online portal which displays important workforce and remuneration data.
