The WA Local Government Association is the voice of Local Government in Western Australia. As the peak industry body WALGA advocates on behalf of the State's 141 Local Governments and negotiates service agreements for the sector. WALGA is not a government department or agency.

The program is under development and will be released shortly for registrations.

Accommodation arrangements are in place and can be booked on line for the WA Transport and Roads Forum 2010 and the National Local Roads and Transport Congress. The registration process is separate from booking accommodation, and attendees do not need to register for both conferences to make an accommodation booking. The Australian Local Government Association is staging the annual National Congress immediately following the WA Roads Forum.

Registrations are open with a Special Early Bird rate of $795 available until 8th August. Thereafter the early bird registration is $845 and the standard registration fee is $960 - so early registration is encouraged.

The 2010 annual Local Government Convention and Trade Exhibition was held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from Thursday 5 - Saturday 7 August 2010 with the closing event being the very popular Convention Gala Dinner.

WALGA President Mayor Troy Pickard addressed the forum at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday - for a copy of the speech, click HERE.

Friday morning commenced with an address from Premier Colin Barnett and the signing of the State Local Government agreement - for a copy of the agreement, click HERE.

The State Government released the revised final draft Activity Centres Policy on 13 August which sets the future direction for development of activity centres in the Perth and Peel regions. With Local Government at the forefront of the delivery of the policy’s objectives, the agenda for the breakfast will provide an opportunity for discussion on the Policy's practical application and ideas on how to manage its implementation.
