The Bus Stop Infrastructure Partnership Agreement was developed in conjunction with the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and with a working group of metropolitan Local Government officers. The Agreement was endorsed by the WALGA State Council at its March 2015 meeting applying to the Perth and Peel regions. Furthermore a Variation to the Agreement was developed in conjunction with the PTA and regional Local Governments and was endorsed by the WALGA State Council at its March 2016 meeting. The Variation includes regional Local Governments with Smartrider ticketed public transport services into the Agreement.
The purpose of the Agreement is to define the roles and responsibilities for providing and maintaining bus stop infrastructure.
The Agreement defines the communication and consultation process between the PTA and Local Governments to be applied in different situations including when bus routes are changed, bus stops are added or removed, and bus stop infrastructure is upgraded.
