Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act co-design Workshops for Local Governments

The Aboriginal Cultural Heritage (ACH) Act 2021 passed through Parliament in December 2021 and is expected to commence in 2023. Currently Department Planning, Lands and heritage is co-designing the regulation, statutory guidelines and operational policies to support the Act.

Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage will be facilitating an additional set of workshops specifically for the Local Governments. Documents to be co-designed have been released through a set of facts sheets. These additional Workshops will provide an overview of each of these documents and allow participants to provide comment and feedback.

Local Governments are also encouraged to submit direct feedback through the online survey or via a written submission.
The documents developed in response to feedback from this engagement phase will be release in phase two for further consultation between July-August 2022.

The workshops are designed for Local Government Chief Executive Officers and Officers with experience of Aboriginal Heritage processes as well as infrastructure works and planning.
