Mask Wearing for Australia Day
The Australia Day (Face Mask) Directions have been published by the WA Government.
The mask mandate runs from 8:00am to midnight on Wednesday, 26 January and applies to all outdoor public gatherings of 100 people or more in the Perth, Peel and South West regions and Rottnest Island, where the primary purpose is to celebrate Australia Day.

Masks continue to be mandatory in all public indoor spaces, including workplaces, and in all vehicles when travelling with anyone who is not an immediate family member.
The Directions can be viewed here.
Chief Health Officer’s Advice for Transition Plan
The Chief Health Officer’s advice which informed the changes to the Transition Plan for WA has been released.
The advice identifies the rationale for the postponement of the Border opening, including the impact of the Omicron variant on the Department of Health modelling.

WALGA is seeking further clarification regarding the scope of the “specialist skills worker” exemption identified in the Transition Plan.
