New Mask Directions
The COVID Transition (Face Covering) Directions have been released.
These Directions replace the COVID Restrictions (Gatherings and Related Measures) Directions (No 11), which have been revoked.

These Directions specify that if a responsible person or staff member at a venue where masks are required requests a medical certificate from a person claiming they are unable to wear a mask, that person must not act in a manner “that is threatening, intimidating or offensive” towards the staff member (Paragraph 8).

WALGA Sector Briefing Webinar: COVID-19 Preparedness in the Regions
WALGA will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, 3 February focusing on planning for COVID-19 in the regions.
The webinar will be hosted by WALGA Acting President, President Cr Karen Chappel and will include presentations by Katherine Flower, A/Lead, Planning Cell, State Health Incident Coordination Centre and Dr Helen Van Gessel, WA Country Health Services COVID Lead and Melissa Vernon, Executive Director, Operations Hub.
 
Date: Thursday, 3 February
Time: 10:00am – 11:00am

Attendees are encouraged to submit questions to the COVID Response Team by COB Tuesday, 1 February.

Testing and Isolation Protocols
Additional information has been released on the testing and isolation protocols that will apply in a high or very high caseload environment.
This information will be useful for Local Governments to factor into their workforce management planning. The existing test, trace, isolate and quarantine regime remains in place at current levels of community transmission.

This infographic has been developed that outlines the requirements for the following high and very high caseload scenarios:
  • I have tested positive for COVID-19
  • I am a close contact and have no symptoms
  • I am a close contact and a critical worker
  • I am a close contact who develops symptoms
  • I am not a close contact and I have symptoms

Department of Communities – Webinar Recording
The Department of Communities hosted a webinar on COVID-19 Preparedness on Friday, 21 January.
The Department has indicated that questions asked during the webinar are being collated and will be posted in FAQs in coming days at the same link.

Third Dose Eligibility Reduced to Three Months
From today, eligibility for a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine reduces from four months from the second dose to three months.
