WALGA is working with 16 Local Governments to organise HHW Temporary Collection Day (TCD) events over the next four months. These events will be hosted by 12 non-metro and four metro Local Governments, with the first three events to take place at the Shires of Collie and Boddington on Saturday, 7 March, and the Town of Bassendean on Saturday, 14 March.
The collection and appropriate recycling and treatment of the Household Hazardous Waste collected from the events is funded by the Waste Authority, through the HHW Program.

Bin Tagging Goes Large 2020
The Bin Tagging Program is back for 2020, with 22 Local Governments taking part in this year’s program.
Set to commence in late February/early March, Local Government waste education officers will wander the suburbs to look in and tag bins to give the community feedback and information on the content of their kerbside bins.
Customised tags have been issued to the participating Local Governments as well as training for the program. The Bin Tagging Program is funded by the State Government, administered by the Waste Authority and implemented by WALGA and the participating Local Governments.
For more information on Bin Tagging please email Waste Management Specialist, Candy Wong or phone 9213 2086.
Large Trucks, Fast Cars and Lots of Red Dirt
With funding from the State Government, WALGA is working with Local Governments to continue to increase awareness of the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) at community events throughout Western Australia.
At the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Sunset at the Soundshell event, the team were swept up in the atmosphere, as the town gathered together for a night of good food and live music. Many kids were excited at the idea of earning money and kept the team on their feet with their efforts. Nearly 2000 containers were collected over the course of the night.

The Shire of Boyup Brook’s Street Parade saw the team get up close and personal with large trucks and fast cars. With the annual Boyup Brook Ute Muster beginning to take over the town, the locals were keen to earn some money so they could start the celebration early. With kids saving for a new furry friend and families bringing in truckloads of containers, the team collected an outstanding 3918 throughout the day.

Visit WasteNet to keep up-to-date with the CDS at events, or click here for more information on WALGA's involvement with the Scheme.
