2020-21 Local Governments Roads Program Approved
The 2020-21 Local Governments Roads Program has been approved by the Minister for Transport with a total amount allocated of $200.955 million.
As outlined in the State Road Funds to Local Government agreement, the amount allocated through this program is 20% of the estimated annual Motor Vehicle Licence Fee (MVLF) collections, which has been revised down from $201.455 million to the $200.955 million approved.
The program approval will now allow Local Governments to immediately claim their Direct Grants and the first 40% of Road Project grants; whilst noting the State Budget will not be handed down until October this year and if MVLF estimates are updated, then a recalculation of the program will be made – with any required adjustments to be made in the 2021-22 funding year.

Further information regarding payments and allocations can be obtained from the Main Roads Regional Road Group Secretariat.

Regional Airport Development Scheme Grants Process Open
The Minister for Transport has announced that the 2021-23 Regional Airport Development Scheme grants round is now open, and will close on Friday, 7 August.
Regional Local Governments with airports should consider making a grant application.

All regional and remote airports are eligible for grants under the Regional Airport Development Scheme (RADS). Total funding of $3.1 million is available, and this round there is a focus on economic recovery stimulus initiatives and programs in response to COVID-19.

Funding is available for 75% of the cost of eligible projects that can be completed by the end of 2021, and 50% of the cost for all other eligible projects.

RADS grants, funded through the Department of Transport, provide funding to increase planning, safety, capacity and security at regional and remote WA airports, to improve access for health, community and business.
