Temporary Labour: Health and Sanitation Services
WALGA is receiving calls from Members seeking services for cleaning facilities and assets, inclusive of fumigation, disinfectant spraying, sanitising buildings, precincts and plant/equipment.
To assist with the identification of suppliers from the WALGA Preferred Supplier contract, the attached InfoPage provides a summary and brief precis of service provision currently available to the sector.  
 
New Pre-Lodgement Advice Process - Metropolitan Region Scheme
The WA Planning Commission has recently endorsed a pre-lodgement advice process for potential Metropolitan Region Scheme amendments.
The letter provides further information in regard to the new process, while the new Guidance Document and flow chart are accessible here.
 
COVID-19 Emergency Volunteering
Volunteering WA have launched a new emergency volunteering website calling on people to help deliver essential services during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Local Governments and any other organisation are encouraged to contact Volunteering WA if they require volunteers in relation to this emergency. There are a number of ways Volunteering WA can assist, including:
  • providing access to people who have registered their interest in volunteering
  • providing a tailored service to manage your volunteers
  • providing support and advice
  • providing access to training, resources and best practice in volunteer management, and
  • providing online software to assist in managing your volunteers.

COVID-19 Resources for Aboriginal People and Remote Communities
A number of COVID-19 resources have been developed for Aboriginal people and remote communities.
The WA Department of Health website has a number of posters and a radio resource.

The Aboriginal Health Council of WA website also has a dedicated COVID-19 page and is providing regular communiques.

The Commonwealth Department of Health website has radio resources in a variety of languages and a video. 

The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (NACCHO) website also has a video.

Information for remote communities is available on the Department of Communities website. This includes details about travel restrictions and assistance for Aboriginal people to return to their communities.

Local Governments are encouraged to make these resources, where most relevant, available to their local communities.
 
Translated COVID-19 Resources
A number of Department of Health publications are now available translated into various languages on the Department's website.
Fact sheets, guidelines and other publications cover a variety of topics including hygiene, self-isolation and quarantine, FAQs, social distancing and identifying symptoms.

Local Governments are encouraged to make these resources available to their multicultural community members.
The materials are available on the Department of Health website.
