Federal Local Government Minister Kristy McBain has invited Mayors and Presidents to the Australian Council of Local Government (ACLG) in Canberra on June 16.

This will be the first ACLG held in more than a decade, and a valuable opportunity to engage with key Federal ministers about the important issues for our communities.

Each council has been invited to send one representative and one observer to the ACLG Forum, and one representative to the ACLG Gala Dinner at Parliament House on June 15.

There is no cost to attend either the Dinner or the Forum, and there is also the option to attend virtually if required.

Registration details are in the invites that were sent to your councils, but if you have any questions about the registration process, please call (02) 6292 9000.

WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) is inviting Local Governments to be a part of the conversation about the workforce needs and training capacity for GP registrars in your region.

WAPHA is working with stakeholders to undertake analysis and provide advice that will support the transition to college-led GP training.

Sessions are being held in metro and regional locations in June and July 2023. More details available here.

The State Government will also give regional Local Governments a tender exemption to retain GP services. You can read more about this announcement here.

The move means Local Governments will be able to extend, vary or renew a GP services contract through decision at a Council meeting.
