Support to Establish Violence-Free Homes

The Escaping Violence Payment (EVP) program is available for people 18+ who have recently experienced intimate partner violence, have changed their living situation and are experiencing financial stress.

Eligible applicants could receive up to $5,000 in financial assistance, including:
  1. Up to $1,500 in cash
  2. Goods and services
  3. Wrap-around support.

Sustainability Network to Discuss Canopy

Worried about loss of tree canopy? Join the Elected Member Sustainability Network meeting on Sunday 16 April.

Following on from the Urban Forest Conference, Elected Members are encouraged to discuss tree canopy issues and initiatives with the WA Tree Canopy Advocates Group.

The session begins at 1pm with a trip to Vlamingh Nature Discovery Space, followed by afternoon tea and an urban canopy discussion in the Grove Library and Community Centre from 2-4pm.

Feedback on Mental Health Wellbeing Guide

The Mental Health Commission is seeking feedback on the draft Mental Health Guide.
 
The Guide is targeted at organisations and agencies that implement wellbeing initiatives, strategies and actions to support Western Australians to increase or maintain their optimal level of mental wellbeing.
 
You can download a full copy of the draft Mental Wellbeing Guide here and provide comment through the survey here until 5pm Friday 14 April.

Time to Recognise Local Government Stars

Nominations for the 2023 Local Government Honours Program are now open.

The Honours Program recognises and celebrates the outstanding achievements and lasting contributions made by Elected Members and employees to their respective Councils, the Local Government sector and the wider community.

Six awards are up for grabs including the Local Government Medal, Life Membership and Troy Pickard Young Achievers Award.

 $3.5 million is available to help manage and adapt the WA coastline.

National Disaster Risk Reducation Grants

Applications for the grant program will open on 24 April and close at noon on 29 May.
 
Projects which reduce disaster risk and improve community resilience to natural hazards can apply for up to $250,000 per local project.
