Perth and Peel Regions Enter Lockdown
The Premier has announced that effective from 12:01am, Tuesday 29 June, Perth and Peel will enter a minimum four-day lockdown until 12.01am, Saturday 3 July, 2021.
This lockdown follows an additional confirmed case of COVID-19 in the community and confirmation of the highly infectious Delta strain evident in one of the three COVID-cases in Perth.
 

 
Local Government places that are required to close:
  • community, recreation or youth centres or facilities (other than to the extent that it remains open for the purpose of hosting essential voluntary or public services such as food banks or homeless services)
  • swimming pools, whether indoor or outdoors
  • galleries
  • museums
  • historic sites
  • libraries
  • Local Government facilities not essential to the continued functioning of the local government
  • playgrounds
  • skate parks, and
  • outdoor gyms.

Anyone who has been to one of the potential exposure locations will need to get tested and quarantine as per the instructions they are given.

Local Government Classification: Essential Workers and Providers
Local Government operations are included in the classification of what is considered an essential worker or provider:
  • Government or Local Government services (whether provided by government, Local Government or outsourced) determined to be essential by the relevant Chief Executive Officer;
  • domestic and commercial waste and resource recovery services (including collection, treatment and disposal services and transfer stations);
  • essential infrastructure and essential services without which the safety, health or welfare of the community or a section of the community would be endangered;
  • emergency services, including firefighting services, and
  • a childcare provider.

WALGA Operations and Support
The WALGA building will be closed this week in line with the restrictions.
However, all staff will be working from home and will continue to provide Members with assistance and support. LGIS will also have Officers available to support Members as required.
WALGA will continue to provide regular updates directly and through this newsletter.  Please direct any COVID enquiries to the COVID-19 Response Team.
