| Briefing to Sector Webinar - Preparing for Omicron
|

| WALGA is hosting a webinar on Friday, 21 January focused on preparing for Omicron and Local Government business continuity and contingency planning.
|
|
The webinar will include an update from WALGA and information from LGIS.

| Extension of Proof of Vaccine Requirements
|
|
| The Premier has announced that proof of vaccination requirements for patrons will be extended State-wide from Monday, 31 January, and will also apply to a range of additional places.
|
|
The vaccination requirement will include hospitality venues, indoor entertainment centres, gyms, fitness centres and health studios. The intent is that community sport will not be covered, unless it occurs at one of the venues included as part of the expanded requirements.
The Directions which give legal force to the announcement are yet to be released.
WALGA will seek clarification regarding the impact on recreation centres and other Local Government facilities, in particular if there is an impact on staff working at those facilities.

| Funding available – Vaccine Community Funding Program
|
|
| Local Governments and community groups are able to access funding to support community engagement initiatives to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates of priority cohorts across the State.
|
|
WA Police are administering the Vaccine Community Funding Program, which aims to increase uptake rates and provide greater opportunities to access COVID-19 vaccines.

| A range of online resources are available to assist Local Governments in COVID-19 related communications with staff and their communities.
|
|
|
