Amendment to Federal Award – Schedule X
Further to Alert 27 / 2020, on 24 September 2020 the Fair Work Commission released a Decision to extend the operation of Schedule X of the Local Government Industry Award 2020 (LGIA) to 29 March 2021. Schedule X provides for two weeks’ unpaid pandemic leave and the ability to take annual leave at half pay with employer agreement.

UnionsWA abandons claim for paid pandemic leave
Further to Alert 27 / 2020, UnionsWA have now withdrawn their claim for paid pandemic leave in the State industrial relations system.


Webinar Reminder – Industrial Relations Amendment Bill 2020

Representatives from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS), Private Sector Labour Relations division, will join WALGA to present a webinar about the Industrial Relations Legislation Amendment Bill 2020.

The webinar will focus on the State Government’s proposal to amend the Industrial Relations Act 1979 (WA) to declare Local Governments to not be national system employers and the proposed transitional arrangements to the State IR system.

The webinar will also include a brief overview of the proposed changes to employment records and pay slips requirements, stop bullying provisions and compliance and enforcement in the State system.

We encourage Local Government Chief Executive Officers, Executives/Senior Managers and Human Resources personnel to attend.
